First thing we always got to do is preheat the oven, so we heated it to 350 degrees. Since the crust was already made, I had to make the chocolate pudding. First, I separated the yolks from the egg whites and put that in a separate bowl for the meringue. I then beat the yolks till they were one liquid and left them in the bowl for later.
In a saucepan, I mixed the cornstarch, sugar, salt and cocoa powder. I then added milk and mixed it together with the dry ingredients. Lastly, I put the pan over the stove on medium heat and whisked for a long time, making sure nothing was on the bottom and until mixture thickened.

Once the pudding was all thickened, I took 1/4 cup of the pudding and added it to the yolks in the bowl. When they were mixed, I added it back to the saucepan with pudding and kept mixing so the bottom of pudding in the saucepan wouldn't burn. After the pudding was thickened, I removed the pan from the heat and added the vanilla and mixed.
Now that the pudding was done, I added it to the pie crust. Once the pudding was all evened out on the pie, I added the meringue to top it off. We then put our pies in for 10-12 minutes to cook, and once it was done I let it sit and came back later after practice to get it.
My pie was very good, I didn't like a lot of meringue so I took some off, but I ate each bite with a little on top. I liked the texture of the meringue, I just wasn't a fan of the taste. I wish my mom would make homemade chocolate pudding instead of the pudding cups that we get at the store. I will try to make this again in the future, but I will probably need a partner to help me.
