For this lab, me and my partner had to make a recipe that involved fruit that was baked. We found a recipe that we thought would fit that standard and that was an apple crisp. It was a very easy recipe, and was also a very delicious recipe.
First, we preheated the oven to 350 degrees. Once the ingredients were all measured out, me and my partner started peeling our apples. When the apples all had the skin taken off, we had to cut them up and take the cores out. We then decided to make small pieces of apple slices instead of bigger slices. So me and my partner cut them up and places them in an 8 x 8 pan. After that, we sprinkled cinnamon and nutmeg over the cut up apples and placed them in the oven for 20 minutes.
While the apples were baking, we had to make the crisp. I started off by mixing the brown sugar and flour until they were combined. When they were, I added the butter and salt and mixed them in the Kitchen Aid. Once the mixture was blended well, and the apples were done baking, we poured the mixture over the apples and placed them back in the oven for 30 minutes, but we took it out earlier because it was already golden-brown.
I thought this recipe was easy and basic, and I would probably make it for someone, but not myself because I do not like baked apples. I loved the crisp because you could definitely taste the brown sugar. I could also taste some of the cinnamon and nutmeg that was put on before we put the apples in first. The texture of the crisp was smooth and creamy, and the apple were soft and hot. Overall, I thought it turned out great, and very much looked like my mom's apple crisp.
