Black Berry Cobbler

Riley and I both decided that a cobbler would be an awesome cooked fruit recipe to make. We decided on black berry when Riley said that her family picks them so it would be cool to use home grown foods. Cooking the black berries was pretty fun with watching everything they touched turn purple, even the spoon! When I was doing the dishes I was fairly surprised to find that it all came off very easily, except for the wooden spoon... sorry about that. I made the crust for the cobbler and making the dough was pretty straight forward and something that we all have done a few times by now.

As we were adding the dough to the berries we were trying to fill in the empty spots to make it look more even then clumped, and we were surprised when it turned out like this. The swirls looked planned and it looks amazing, but it was all on half accident.

Tasting is was cool. I'd never had black berries before so I wasn't expecting the different tang they have from other berries. After I got used to the tang it was really good and I wish that I would have had more time to eat it then I had. Instead my parents ended up taking it to a family get together and everyone else finished it off. I was thoroughly surprised by how well it all turned out.
