The first thing we did in this recipe was, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. We did this to activate the yeast. We the put the mixture into our kitchen aid bowl, and placed the paddle on the mixer. Usint the paddle, we stirred in our lard, salt, and two cups of flour. Once all stirred in, we then stirred in the remaining flour a half cup at a time. Once it had pulled together into a big glob, we put on the dough hook, and knead the dough untill it was smooth. We then put our dough in a greased bown, and used our poor mans proofer to let the dough rise the first time. Once risen, we punched down the dough and formed it into an even sized lump, and put it in the pan. We then let our dough rise again at room temp. After it had risen, we placed the loaves in the oven at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes, and it was done!

I would say the bread turned out very well! The texture was perfect with evenly spaced air holes, and a very thin, smooth crust. The taste was very good also, it was very grainy, and light, and natural tasting. The color was also a nice addeture, lightly browned on the outside with a clean white inside. I would recommend this recipe ro anyone, because it was easy, and tasted great!
