Tarimasu

The first step to making our tarimasu was, making our custard. To make this we set a pan of a sugar mixture over a pan a simmering water, and stirred it constantly. Once the sugar had dissolved, and the temp was high enough, we pulled the custard out, and put the pan in an ice bath. Once the custard had cooled, we cut up a pound cake into about 1/2 inch slivers. Once cut, we would soak the bread in a really strong coffe mixture. We the layered the cake, and custard in an 8*8 pan untill all material was used. On the very last top layer, we sprinkled coco. The very last step was to chill, and then it was ready!

I had alot of mixed feelings about this dish. The texture was all very soft and almost mushy. The smell was also sort of odd, sort of like an odd coffe smell to it. The taste was odd also, the sweetness of the custard was really strong, and so was the bitterness of the coffe. I most likely would not reccomend this dish, but thats just me.
